The Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) successfully organized the 2026 LGU Sports Festival on May 19, bringing together local government employees and personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), COMELEC, and Circuit Municipal Trial Court in a day filled with sports, wellness, and camaraderie.
The festival commenced with an early morning Fun Run, which drew participation from employees and partner agencies. Recognizing outstanding performances, special awards were conferred to the Top 5 Fastest Runners in both the male and female categories. The highly anticipated Golden Runner Awards were also presented to the oldest male and female participants who successfully completed the route.
Following the fun run, participants gathered at the Municipal Plaza for a Zumba session led by the Burgos PNP.
A brief opening program followed, where the Municipal Mayor and Vice Mayor delivered inspiring messages emphasizing the importance of employee well-being, teamwork, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. To ensure fair play and smooth conduct of the competitions, the HRMO facilitated an orientation on the rules and mechanics of the games before the official start of the sporting events.
The competitive activities then kicked off with the Men’s Basketball Tournament. In the afternoon, participants took part in the traditional Filipino games under the Laro ng Lahi category, featuring Patintero and Tug of War, which generated excitement and friendly rivalry among the competing groups. Wrapping up the day’s sporting events is the Mixed Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
The 2026 LGU Sports Festival served as a platform to strengthen camaraderie, boost employee morale, and promote physical and mental wellness among public servants. It also reinforced collaboration among various government offices and agencies, reflecting the shared commitment to building a healthy, productive, and united workforce.
The awarding of winners and recognition of outstanding participants were held during the Flag Raising Ceremony on May 25, where champions and awardees were formally honored for their achievements and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the activity.
