In celebration of Earth Day 2026, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Burgos, under the leadership of Hon. Delfin C. Comedis Jr., successfully carried out a riverbank clean-up drive at Budahao Falls through the initiative of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

The activity was conducted in close coordination with Barangay Bilis officials, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Burgos Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and community volunteers. It aimed to promote environmental awareness, proper waste management and active public participation in safeguarding natural resources.

Participants worked hand in hand in collecting, segregating and properly disposing of waste materials scattered along the riverbanks and surrounding areas of Budahao Falls. Beyond the physical clean-up, the initiative also served as an avenue to educate community members on environmental stewardship and the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.

The clean-up drive achieved its objectives by significantly reducing the volume of waste and debris in the area, resulting in visible improvements in the cleanliness and overall condition of the riverbank and its surroundings. Moreover, the activity strengthened collaboration among various stakeholders, fostering unity and a shared commitment to environmental protection.

Organizers highlighted that the initiative not only restored the natural beauty of Budahao Falls but also instilled a deeper sense of environmental consciousness among participants. The success of the activity underscores the importance of sustained efforts and community involvement in preserving ecological resources.

The Earth Day clean-up drive stands as a model for future environmental initiatives in the municipality, contributing to the long-term protection and preservation of Budahao Falls as a vital natural and ecological asset of Burgos.
