In celebration of National Women’s Month, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Burgos, La Union successfully conducted a series of meaningful and empowering activities on March 19, 2026, highlighting the strength, rights, and well-being of women in the organization.
Anchored on this year’s campaign banner, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” and sub-theme, “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, the event gathered women employees of the LGU for a day filled with fitness, learning, and self-care. The celebration was spearheaded by Municipal Mayor Hon. Delfin C. Comedis, Jr., with the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) serving as the lead section in organizing the activity.
A Zumba session was held at the Municipal Plaza, where participants enthusiastically joined in promoting physical fitness and camaraderie among employees.
A short but insightful seminar on women’s rights was conducted. The session was facilitated by PCpl Dianne Richelle S. Lomboy from the Burgos Police Station, who discussed key laws and protections afforded to women, as well as the importance of awareness and empowerment in addressing gender-based issues.
The celebration concluded with the provision of wellness services dedicated to women, offering participants an opportunity to relax and attend to their personal health needs. These services aimed to reinforce the LGU’s commitment to holistic employee welfare.
Through this initiative, the LGU reaffirmed its support for gender equality and women empowerment, recognizing the vital role of women in public service and community development. The successful conduct of the Women’s Month celebration reflects the administration’s continued efforts to foster an inclusive and supportive workplace for all.
