The Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) of the Municipality at the Burgos Eco-Park in Barangay Agpay now produces hollow blocks made of wastes!
With the acquisition of Plastic Granulator, Chipper/Shredder and Glass/Bottle Crusher by the Burgos Municipal Local Government Unit last August 17, 2019, the Municipality’s MRF at the Burgos Eco-Park in Barangay Agpay now produces hollow blocks made from crushed bottles/glasses, shredded/chipped plastic, sand and cement. Tested to be durable, these hollow blocks could be used as construction material. These are now available for sale to interested parties.
The MLGU is hopeful that this scheme will further encourage its constituents to observe and practice proper segregation of wastes and garbage in their areas. Segregated bottles/glasses and plastic waste in the barangays maybe brought to the Facility or may be collected by the MLGU’s garbage truck in scheduled basis.
In an interview with Burgos Municipal Mayor Robert B. Madarang, jr., he discloses: “This will also serve as a venue of livelihood to rehabilitated drug dependents/patients; they will be given priority to work and manage the hollow block/brick production under the supervision of the Municipal Government; in this simple way, we are hopeful that they will feel the concern of the Government for them and that they will forever be away from illegal drugs”.
