The Balay Silangan located at the second floor of the dour floored-municipal hall building of the Burgos Municipal Local Government Unit was at last inaugurated. This led by Mayor Robert B. Madarang Jr. with Region I PDEA Director Bryan B. Babang, Atty. Marvin O. Tavares of PDEA-La Union, MLGOO Rhodalyn S. Licudine, all MLGU department/office heads, all punong barangays of the 12 barangays of the Municipality and some members of the Sangguniang Bayan. The blessing of the Balay Silangan was administered by Our Lady of Fatima Parish Church Parish Priest Jose L. Tagupa, SVD. Though only now inaugurated, this Balay Silangan has been established for operation sometimes early of 2019.
Before the inauguration/blessing, an inaugural program was held at the Municipal plaza attended by the above-mentioned guests and LGU personnel, Burgos Municipal Police Station led Chief of Police Pol Capt. Leopoldo Galap, Barangay Officials led by all the Punong Barangays, faculty member and students of Burgos Natinal High School led by their school principal Ms. Arlene C. Hilario and some officers of civic organizations.
Representing Director General Aaron N. Aquino of the PDEA National Headquarters, PDEA Regional Director Bryan B. Babang acted as the Guest Speaker. He stressed in his speech that the Balay Silangan Program is needed for the war against drugs; that it is a national reformation program that offers temporary refuge for illegal-drug offenders with the objective to transform them into self-sufficient and law-abiding citizens.
